New Delhi, India, December 7th, 2023 – The 3rd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards 2023, organized by Urban Infra Group, was a significant event honoring exemplary leaders and corporates for their exceptional contributions to India's infrastructure sector.
Among the esteemed recipients was Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL), honored as the ‘Most Preferred Bus Rapid Transit System of the Year’ for being the most preferred Bus Rapid Transit System, providing efficient and sustainable urban transit.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation established Ahmedabad Janmarg Ltd (AJL), a Special Purpose Vehicle, to operate BRTS buses. AJL, a 100% subsidiary of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, is committed to providing fast, reliable, eco-friendly, and advanced public transportation in Ahmedabad. Managing the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) across the city, AJL introduced an Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) through smart cards. The BRTS is known for its efficiency, affordability, and reduced travel time, operating on dedicated lanes. Inaugurated in October 2009, it boasts a fleet of 337 buses across 7 depots, serving 19 routes. The BRTS has earned national and international recognition, winning awards for its design, implementation, and operation.
The recognition, presented by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara, in presence of dignitaries from the nodal ministries, government departments, Public Sector Undertakings and prominient player from the private sectors symbolizes acknowledgment for AJL's outstanding leadership and innovative contributions within the urban transport sector.
The 3rd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards are a platform dedicated to honoring corporates and individual leaders in recognition of their extraordinary contribution to developing major infrastructure projects in India through innovative ideas, products, and services. A total of 30 (9 individuals and 21 corporates) were felicitated with the 3rd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards.
