New Delhi, India, December 7th, 2023 – The 3rd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards 2023, organized by Urban Infra Group, was a significant event honoring exemplary leaders and corporates for their exceptional contributions to India's infrastructure sector.
Among the esteemed recipients was Kochi Water Metro Limited (KWML), honored as the ‘Most Innovative Water Transit System of the Year’ for redefining water-based transit systems, providing innovative and sustainable urban transport solutions.
The Kochi Water Metro Project aims to alleviate pollution and traffic congestion in Kochi, Kerala. Covering 78 km with 15 routes and 38 jetties, it involves a fleet of 78 fast, electric hybrid ferries, benefiting over 33,000 islanders. The socially inclusive project focuses on enhancing livelihoods through commercial property development and tourism initiatives. Emphasizing modern, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly boats, the project prioritizes increased ridership and safety. Situated along the Kerala backwaters, Kochi, as the commercial capital, seeks sustainable transport solutions with low vulnerability to storm surges.
The recognition, presented by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara, in presence of dignitaries from the nodal ministries, government departments, Public Sector Undertakings and prominient player from the private sectors symbolizes acknowledgment for KWML's outstanding leadership and innovative contributions within the water transport sector.
The 3rd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards are a platform dedicated to honoring corporates and individual leaders in recognition of their extraordinary contribution to developing major infrastructure projects in India through innovative ideas, products, and services. A total of 30 (9 individuals and 21 corporates) were felicitated with the 3rd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards.
