Mr. Rajesh Prasad

Mr. Rajesh Prasad, a Civil Engineering graduate from IIT Kanpur (1983-87) and a member of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) 1988 Batch, currently serves as the Director of Operations at Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) since March 3, 2020. In his previous role as Executive Director, he showcased a robust history of working in the government administration industry, demonstrating expertise in procurement, engineering, feasibility studies, project engineering, and rail transport. His diverse experience includes successfully managing fast-track turnkey projects, such as the construction of three workshops, a cable-stayed bridge, and a metro project in Kolkata, overcoming challenging construction conditions. Mr. Prasad has executed projects like tunnel construction in Saranga forest and a rail bridge over the river Bhagirathi (Ganges). Notably, he introduced live monitoring for the health of a cable-stayed bridge, a pioneering initiative in Indian Railways. He also implemented a unique monitoring system for ensuring the safety of the running line during the execution of a tunnel with controlled blasting for a third-line project, a first-of-its-kind approach in Indian Railways. His contributions include developing a unique fast-track model for launching a cable-stayed bridge with geometry control using the Lusas model. Additionally, Mr. Prasad played a key role in the feasibility studies and report for the Kolkata-New Delhi high-speed corridor.
