Urban Infra 2022: NCRTC Chief Vinay Kumar Singh conferred with 'Most Innovative Urban Infra Leader’ Award 2022

New Delhi, India, 7th November 2022: Shri Vinay Kumar Singh, Managing Director, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), has been conferred the ‘Most Innovative Urban Infra Leader’ of the year. This award given to him for his extraordinary contribution for developing major urban infra projects with innovative solutions. 

India is presently implementing the Regional Rapid Transit Systems (RRTS) under his leadership first time in the country. His name was selected by a jury/panel comprising experts from the Rail & Metro sectors for the 2nd Urban Infra Business Leadership Awards 2022.

The award was Received by Shri Puneet Vats, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), NCRTC from Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Former Member (Rolling Stock), Railway Board, Ministry of Railways on his behalf in presence of  dignitaries from the nodal ministries, government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and industry leaders from the leading multi-national companies (MNCs) engaged in developing major urban infrastructure in India.

Vinay Kumar Singh is a passionate civil engineer who had started his professional career as an Indian Railway Officer (IRSE 1988 batch). He is presently leading transformation in regional mobility as the first Managing Director of NCRTC, which is mandated for designing, developing, implementing, financing, operating, and maintaining Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) projects in the National Capital Region of India. Mr Singh has built NCRTC from scratch and is now spearheading the development of the idea into a reality through this $15 billion project. 

With thorough expertise of rail-based transport systems and deep understanding of advanced technologies, he is leading the implementation of RRTS as probably the most technologically advanced transport project in India at present. With implementation of RRTS, he visions to take the commute in NCR to the next level, beyond the change brought by metro systems over last two decades.


Before joining NCRTC, Singh was the Chief Executive Officer of the High-Speed Rail Corporation, where he played a key role in developing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR project and finalisation of techno– economic agreement between India and Japan for construction of this line. Having served as Executive Director in the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, he has experience of working on Board of many joint venture companies/ PPP SPVs and has acquired a profound policy perspective which he believes is helping him in his current role. Associated with many ‘firsts’, he has been the officer in-charge of the execution team of the first section of Delhi Metro project in field. 

The Urban Infra Business Leadership Awards are given to corporates and individual leaders in recognition and honor for their extraordinary contribution to developing major infrastructure projects in India through their innovative ideas, products, and services. A total of 41 (9 individuals and 32 corporates) were felicitated with the 2nd Urban Infra Business Leadership awards.

The 2nd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards 2022 hosted by Urban Infra Group on 7th November 2022 at India International Centre, New Delhi, India. The 1st edition of Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards was held virtually in 2020 due to the countrywide pandemic.
