New Delhi, India, December 7th, 2023 – The 3rd Urban Infra Business Summit & Awards 2023, organized by Urban Infra Group, was a significant event honoring exemplary leaders and corporates for their exceptional contributions to India's infrastructure sector.
Among the esteemed recipients was Mr. Rajesh Prasad, honored as the 'Most Innovative Urban Infra Leader of the Year' for his pioneering leadership in the railway industry, significantly redefining urban excellence through sustainable innovation. Mr. Prasad, a Civil Engineering graduate from IIT Kanpur (1983-87) and a member of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) 1988 Batch, currently serves as the Director of Operations at Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) since March 3, 2020.
His illustrious career spans a robust history of working in government administration, demonstrating expertise in procurement, engineering, feasibility studies, project execution, and rail transport. Noteworthy among his achievements is his adept management of fast-track turnkey projects, including the construction of workshops, a cable-stayed bridge, and a metro project in Kolkata, overcoming formidable construction challenges.
Mr. Prasad's notable contributions include spearheading tunnel construction in Saranga forest and the successful erection of a rail bridge over the river Bhagirathi (Ganges). His innovative initiatives within Indian Railways include introducing live monitoring for the health of a cable-stayed bridge, a pioneering endeavor, and implementing a unique monitoring system ensuring the safety of running lines during tunnel execution through controlled blasting, a pioneering safety approach.
His remarkable expertise also extends to developing a unique fast-track model for launching cable-stayed bridges using the Lusas model. Additionally, Mr. Prasad played a pivotal role in conducting feasibility studies for the Kolkata-New Delhi high-speed corridor, contributing significantly to the future of Indian rail infrastructure.
The recognition, presented by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara, in presence of dignitaries from the nodal ministries, government departments, Public Sector Undertakings and prominient player from the private sectors symbolizes acknowledgment for Mr. Prasad's outstanding leadership and innovative contributions within the railway sector.
