Dr. Amudhan Valavan honored as "Urban Infra Sustainable Mobility Promotor of the Year" at 4th Urban Infra Business Leadership Awards 2024

New Delhi, India (October 17, 2024): Dr. Amudhan Valavan, a Global Public Transport Expert and Independent Director at the Metropolitan Transport Corporation in Chennai, was awarded the title of "Urban Infra Sustainable Mobility Promotor of the Year" on October 16, 2024. The award was presented during the 4th Urban Infra Business Leadership Awards ceremony, held at the Hyatt Centric in New Delhi as part of the 4th Urban Infra Business Summit & RailTrans Expo 2024, which took place from October 15 - 16, 2024.

The accolade was bestowed by Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Ministry of Railways, in the presence of esteemed leaders from various government departments, central public sector undertakings, and the private sector.

Dr. Amudhan Valavan is a distinguished expert in public and private transportation with over 32 years of experience. He currently serves as an Independent Director at the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai), Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Coimbatore), and Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Salem). His global career encompasses pivotal roles at the Kuwait Public Transport Company and Dubai's Road Transport Authority, along with consulting engagements across 13 countries for firms such as Bahwan Cyber Tek, Ernst & Young, and PwC.

Dr. Valavan holds academic credentials from prestigious institutions, including Oxford University (UK), Young Scientist University (USA), BITS Pilani, and École Des Ponts ParisTech. His expertise has been further enhanced through collaborations with renowned global entities, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank, UITP (Belgium), European Institute of Urban Mobility, UNCC, and UN Habitat. He has made substantial contributions to transportation policy, technological innovation, and sustainable mobility initiatives.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Valavan is a trustee of the NGO R-Safe and a prolific author, having published 41 articles in internationally recognized journals and 20 at the regional level.
