Dr. Anirudh Gautam

Dr. Anirudh Gautam, currently serving as the Principal Executive Director (Research & Technology) at the Research Designs & Standards Organization (RDSO), continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of locomotive technologies and innovations. His role at RDSO involves overseeing and directing research and technological advancements in railway systems and standards, further cementing his dedication to driving forward the realm of locomotive engineering and development.

Dr. Anirudh Gautam, a mechanical and electrical engineer from the esteemed SCRA scheme of Indian Railways, embarked on his career by gaining hands-on experience in various domains. His initial years on the Indian Railways encompassed diverse roles, from maintaining carriages and wagons to operating and maintaining steam and diesel locomotives in the challenging Eastern Railways.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gautam has been instrumental in groundbreaking developments. Notably, he's credited with developing the world's first ALCO locomotive electronic fuel injection system and a mobile Emission Test Car, showcasing his innovative prowess in locomotive technology.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Dr. Gautam has received several awards from the Ministry of Railways, including the prestigious National Award for Outstanding Service, conferred by the Minister of Railways.

His academic pursuits reflect his commitment to excellence. He holds a Master's in Quality Management from BITS Pilani, a Master's in Engineering in Engine Systems from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. Dr. Gautam's expertise is further acknowledged as an Adjunct Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur, where he shares his knowledge and experience with the next generation of engineers. His journey is a testament to his continuous pursuit of innovation, excellence, and significant contributions to the field of locomotive design and development.
