Shri Rajesh Agrawal, an esteemed professional, currently serves as an Advisor at TATA Steel Limited, bringing extensive expertise and experience to the table. He held the prestigious position of Member (Rolling Stock) at the Railway Board, serving as the ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India. Hailing from the 1980 batch of the Indian Railways Services of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME), Shri Agrawal has a proven track record in turnaround management, manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and public administration.

His professional journey spans various pivotal roles within the Indian Railways, including his tenure as the General Manager of the Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli. Shri Agrawal's diverse expertise extends beyond the railways; he served as a UNESCO/ICOMOS expert, contributing significantly in areas such as world heritage, environment, tourism, culture, museum, conservation, sustainable development, and stakeholder frameworks, emphasizing community-centric approaches.

Shri Agrawal boasts an impressive academic background, holding three Engineering Degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering. Throughout his illustrious career, he contributed to eight Zonal Railways, including Eastern Railway, North Frontier, North Western, South Eastern, South East Central, Southern, Western, and West Central Railway. His roles ranged from managerial positions in the Railway Board, Modern Coach Factory, and CRIS to diverse operational roles such as Director of the National Rail Museum, Divisional Railway Manager in Southern Railway, Deputy General Manager & Chief Vigilance Officer in North Frontier Railway, and Chief Mechanical Engineer in West Central Railway, among others.

An accomplished author, Shri Agrawal penned the inscriptions for All Indian Railways World Heritage Sites, notably Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, Nilgiri Mountain Railways, Kalka Shimla Railways, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. His contributions earned him several awards and accolades, including Gold Medals in IE (India)’81, NAIR’85, GM’95, Hindi-Board’s Award’88, UNESCO Best Project ’07, Barker Robbins Prize, and more. He underwent numerous training programs both in India and abroad, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
